Your well-being starts with you!
What is sophrology ?

Why Sophrology ?
1.
Because Sophrology offers a mental escape, allowing you to experience a deep state of relaxation that completely soothes the body.
-> It lowers blood pressure,
-> calms the nervous system, and even
-> supports cell regeneration for both body and mind.
Not only does it help prevent long-term mental exhaustion, but it also builds mental resilience to tackle life’s challenges—whether it’s stress, anxiety, fear, sadness, anger, grief, depression, PTSD, emotional pain, or even boredom!
2.
But also because one of the unique advantages of sophrology is its emphasis on independence. Unlike some practices that create reliance on the practitioner, sophrology empowers clients to continue their progress on their own. After each session, you receive a 10-minute recording of the technique practiced, allowing you to incorporate it into your daily routine and build resilience outside of sessions.
It is important to note that a sophrologist does not provide medical diagnoses and does not replace healthcare professionals. In cases of medical conditions, sophrology is used as a complementary approach alongside medical or paramedical care.
Who can benefit ?
Where to practice Sophrology ?
All You Need: A Chair and a Quiet Space!
Sophrology can be practiced almost anywhere, as long as you have a chair and a calm environment. If you visit my office for an in-person session, we’ll work together in a dedicated, peaceful room designed for your comfort.
For videoconference sessions, simply find a quiet spot at home or work where you can focus without distractions. With these simple conditions, sophrology is accessible no matter where you are.
Why you haven't heard about it before ?
Sophrology was created in the 1960s by Spanish psychiatrist and neurologist Professor Alfonso Caycedo, making it a relatively new practice. In just 60 years, however, it has become a trusted resource in workplaces, schools, and healthcare settings across Europe—and it’s now starting to gain traction in the U.S.!

Sophrology combines the best of Eastern practices - think yoga, Zen meditation and Buddhism - with cutting-edge Western science, particularly neurology, psychology and phenomenological psychiatry.

Caycedo was trying to find a way to effectively bring traumatized and suffering war victims to a healthy physical and mental state with minimum drug use.
After Caycedo developed sophrology, people used those techniques in a variety of ways to manage daily stress and anxiety, and to enhance focus and concentration.

Like in sport: the French rugby team, world champion tennis players like Rafael Nadal, judokas like Teddy Riner, swimmers Florent Manaudou.

But it is also used in schools for students like at George Mason University (VA, USA).
